Never Plug Your Projector Lamps or Cell Phone In Again.

Imagine being able to get power to your light bulb, cell phone, and other gadgets without having them plugged in. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researchers recently announced that they had made a light bulb glow by sending it energy wirelessly. This could possibly pave the way for a future in which cell phones and other gadgets get juice without having to be plugged in.

This breakthrough technology is being called ‘WiTricity’ by the scientists as disclosed in an online publication of the journal Science.

The idea of sending power wirelessly is not that new, but scientists have dismissed it as inefficient as the electromagnetic energy that is generated by the charging device would radiate in all directions.

The MIT scientists lit a 60-watt bulb that was almost 7 feet away from the charging device.

Who knows, perhaps one day we will remove the need to have a clutter of cables by charging our devices through the air and eliminating the need for batteries and their toxic chemicals.
